Having arrived at the lake, the pack begins their fishing trip. Anvil has yet to prove himself to Bonnie, while Floe is preparing for her first ever test at fishing. The sun was high in the sky, the clouds being few and far between. The fish were plentiful, if a bit skinnier than desired. Everything was perfect for today.

Floe, having shaken a bit of the water off of her fur, was preparing to dive back in to snatch up a salmon. Her haunches were raised, her tail swaying in anticipation. Shortly after she leapt into the water with a big splash.

Anvil had planned on coming here alone but somehow all the tribe's dires found out and tagged along. He wasn’t worried about much, but he was wary of Bonnie's judgment. Anvil knows Hidu is happy with how he does, so no one else opinion matters, well maybe Panik's matters... He rushed up for air after diving for a big fish he saw near a rocky formation in the lake. He wasn’t gonna set himself on that one fish, but if an opportunity came to get it, he wouldn’t mind showing it off.

Bonnie was laying off to the side watching Floe and Anvil diving for fish they saw in the lake. She knew the two would be fine but she still would like to see how they would do so the tribe could plan accordingly to everyone's skills. Was she going to be a bit harder on Anvil? There's a good 80% chance that she will be but the eldest dire has always been harder on males. It was only natural for her and there were other reasons as well but that's for another time.

Panik decided it was about time for her to join the other dires so she started walking away from her mother and down the beach a bit. She found a nice rocky spot beneath the shade of a nearby tree. since the other two where going after the fish hanging out in the deeper water Panik would hunt the ones hiding in the shallows. She stepped from the sand onto one of the rocks careful not to touch the water. When it was this shallow it was so easy to spook them.

Floe came back up, snorting and shaking her head. "I got it! I got....." she began, but stopped only when she felt a roughness against her tongue. Looking down at her reflection, she saw that she had a stick in her mouth. "...awwww..."

Sniper-Hidu
Anvil looked over to Floe to see her catch only to see the stick and sigh. He looked around the lake and decided to check the river that fed into here. This lake's fish know theres dires here so all the good fish have gone and vanished. He walked onto shore and wandered his way to the river hoping for better luck.

Bonnie smiled as she rose to her paws, "It's alright Floe, you'll get one eventually." She walked over to the shoreline, "Go ahead and try again, if you don't get another fish then I'll come help. Try to not make as much noise this time."

The elder dire waded through the shallow waters, trying to not make as much noise as possible. She slithered along the water's surface keeping an eye on Floe and Anvil still.

Panik was still in earshot and glanced over when she heard Bonnie. She noticed Floe's 'catch' and chuckled to herself a bit. She was about to go back to scouting for fish when she noticed Anvil approaching. She wondered to herself what he was doing over here. Trying to avoid Bonnie? Wanting to talk? Heading over to the river? All of that? None of that? she shrugged watching a small fish. It was much too small to be worth catching, it was barley a mouth full and catching it would scare off the better prey so she simply watched as it swam past her rock and under the cover of the underwater plants.

Floe decided it'd be best to get out of the water for a bit, let the fish come back. She crawled out of the lake with her head hanging a bit, irritated at how difficult this seemed. She walked over to a particularly sunny spot on the shore and laid down to sun herself. The anxiety of not living up to her family's lineage was beginning to poke at her despite her attempts to push it off, making her roll onto her back and lay her head against the ground with a sigh.

Anvil glanced at Panik as he walked by, wanting to talk and say anything but if he did it would quickly be ruined by Bonnie and her demons. So he just walked on and headed to the river, maybe they’ll be some good fish that haven’t entered the lake yet.

Bonnie sighed as her granddaughter swam back towards the shore. The dire didn't expect Floe to get a fish on her very first try, hell it took her a few tries to get her first fish! Panik got her first fish faster than she did but will she tell her oversized daughter? Absolutely not, she was not going to give Panik more ammo for the teasing the two like to do. Yes, their family was superb at fishing but it took them long days of practice.

With another sigh she dove into the water while her two cat companions sat off to the side chatting about who knows what.

Panik finally saw when she'd been waiting for the fish was a decent size not gigantic by any means but two of them would make a good meal. she took a few careful steps over the rocks in it's directing testing each one before putting her weight on it. She moved till she was directly above it her shadow obstructed by the shade of the tree above them. When she was ready she pounced and before the fish even knew what was happening it was dead on the beach.

Anvil looked into the river seeing decent size fish swimming about, none of them knowing the threat that now hung over them. He watched one for a few seconds until it stopped and he dunked his head in fast mouth wide open and snatched the fish right up. Anvil walked away from the river the fish slapping its tail around hoping to get free. Anvil gave it one last bite and the fish went limp. He placed the fish on the ground and went back to the river to look for more.

Floe dozed off for a few moments, warmed by the sun and soothed by the sounds of water when something felt amiss. She suddenly felt a weight on her stomach, and it was kneading a bit. It was only when she heard a weird rumbling noise did she look to see a Maine Coon sitting on her. Perking her ears up in surprise, the white dire looked to the dark feline in confusion and wonder. The feline in turn tilted his head with a smile.

"Uh.."

Bonnie swam to the bottom of the lake and stayed there while her eyes scanned for her swimming prey. She found a nice size fish swimming with a couple of smaller fish, if she was lucky she could grab a few of the smaller fishes while getting the larger one. She pushed herself from the bottom and quickly swam up with her mouth wide open. As soon as she felt slippery scales against her tongue the female shut her mouth with a crushing sound erupting through the water.

The dire popped her head out with the fish she was aiming for along with one of the smaller fish. With a flop both fish were on the shore dead.

Panik moved further along the bank stepping from rock to rock leaving her old spot behind for a bit until the fish decided the danger had passed. Out here away from the shade the pickings where fewer in number but the fish tended to be bigger and it seemed luck was on her side today. The dire saw a fish a bit bigger than the one laying behind her on the shore and it hadn't noticed her shadow yet. She moved quickly her tactics out in the open where much quicker and more violent than the careful steady approach that she favored under the shade. diving in and slamming her jaws shut on the creature as it tried to turn and swim away.

Floe had sat up, the cat hopping off of her as they stared at one another. "Where'd you come from?" she asked him, tilting her head. "My mama." he answered, smiling innocently. Floe couldn't keep a bemused expression from hitting her face, ears lowered. "How funny...."

"You tryna fish?" the coon asked her, looking past the massive tokota and to the lake. She had followed his gaze, lowering her head sheepishly. "Yeah...but I can't get the hang of it...." she admitted.

"Use your paw!" the cat chirped, holding up one of his. "Slap the water when you see a fish. The power of your smack and the fish's leap from fear can give you an advantage if you're quick enough!"

Floe flicked one of her ears, looking to the cat in confusion. "You think that'd work?" she asked, to which the cat nodded. Sucking in her breath, the snow dire nodded and turned back to the water. She looked down into the mirror-like surface, seeing dark shapes swimming about in it. A big, juicy-looking shape came forward slowly, and Floe knew this had to be the one. Raising her paw slowly, methodically, she brought it down and smacked the surface of the water. The huge fish flew up into the air, flailing as it failed to swim mid-air before falling down. Eyes wide, Floe leapt upward and snapped her jaws, landing into the water once more.
